Second, in terms of environmental protection, improperly disposed of or landfilled waste PCB boards and integrated circuits can cause serious environmental pollution. These waste products contain heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, as well as harmful substances like brominated flame retardants. When they are randomly discarded or landfilled, heavy metals can seep into the soil and groundwater, damaging the soil ecosystem and water resources; while brominated flame retardants can release toxic gases during high temperatures or combustion, endangering the atmospheric environment and human health. Therefore, professional recycling and processing of PCB boards and integrated circuits can effectively prevent these harmful substances from entering the environment and reduce the risk of environmental pollution. So, how can we achieve effective recycling and processing of PCB boards and integrated circuits? At present, common recycling methods mainly include physical methods and chemical methods. Physical methods mainly use methods such as crushing, screening, and magnetic separation to separate different components in PCB boards and integrated circuits. For example, using crushers to crush discarded circuit boards into small pieces, then separating particles of different sizes through screening, and using magnetic separation equipment to separate ferromagnetic substances. Chemical methods use chemical reactions to dissolve precious metals from circuit boards, and then extract them through a series of purification processes. This method can more efficiently recover precious metals, but attention should be paid to controlling environmental pollution during the chemical reaction process. In addition, establishing a complete recycling system is also of great importance. Governments, enterprises, and social organizations should work together to establish a complete industrial chain from collection and transportation to processing. Governments can introduce relevant policies and regulations to encourage and regulate the development of the recycling and processing industry; enterprises can strengthen technological research and development to improve the efficiency and quality of recycling and processing; and social organizations and the public can enhance environmental awareness and actively participate in electronic product recycling activities. The recycling and processing of PCB boards and integrated circuits is a work of great significance. It not only enables the reuse of resources and reduces the exploitation of primary mineral resources, but also effectively protects the environment and reduces the damage of harmful substances to the ecosystem.
