Today, with e-waste increasing at an alarming rate, how to efficiently and environmentally process waste circuit boards has become a global challenge. Traditional recycling methods such as incineration or acid washing not only pollute the environment but also waste valuable resources. The emergence of water-sorting recycling equipment is driving a green revolution in the e-waste recycling industry with its technological power. The core principle of water-sorting recycling equipment is based on physical gravity sorting and fluid dynamics. After being crushed, circuit board particles are separated by water flow due to the density differences between metal and non-metal materials — metal particles sink to the bottom of the tank, while non-metal fragments float out with the water. This process does not require chemical reagents, avoiding secondary pollution and significantly increasing metal recovery rates. The entire system typically includes multiple modules such as crushing, sorting, dewatering, drying, and dust treatment, forming a closed-loop production system that fully reflects the integration and intelligence of modern environmental protection equipment. The technological advantages of this equipment are remarkable. Firstly, the recycling of water reduces operating costs, with water consumption of less than 3 cubic meters per ton of waste, saving more than 50% of energy compared to traditional methods. Secondly, the purity of metal recovery can reach 98%, far exceeding the 85% of mechanical sorting. More importantly, the equipment can effectively process circuit boards containing precious metals, extracting about 250 grams of gold per ton of waste mobile phone circuit boards, which is dozens of times the grade of gold ore, truly realizing the development of "urban mines". In terms of environmental benefits, water-sorting technology completely solves the release of harmful substances such as brominated flame retardants. Experimental data shows that the dust emissions during the water-sorting process are reduced by more than 90% compared to dry sorting, and the treated wastewater fully meets discharge standards. This environmentally friendly processing method shifts e-waste recycling from "end-of-pipe management" to "source prevention", perfectly aligning with the concept of sustainable development. At present, China has built several demonstration bases adopting water-sorting technology. Taking a certain environmental protection technology company as an example, its automated production line with an annual processing capacity of 30,000 tons can recover 12,000 tons of copper and 100 kilograms of gold, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 60,000 tons, and create significant economic and environmental benefits. These practices fully demonstrate that water-sorting technology not only solves pollution problems but also transforms waste into sustainable resources. Looking forward, with the integration of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence technology, intelligent water-sorting systems will achieve more efficient resource recovery through real-time monitoring of water quality, automatic adjustment of flow rate, and precise control of sorting accuracy. This will promote the transformation of e-waste processing from labor-intensive to technology-intensive, providing key technical support for circular economy development. Water-sorting recycling equipment is not only the result of technological innovation but also an important practice of ecological civilization. It uses the power of technology to transform e-waste into "urban minerals", interpreting the profound connotation of "green water and green mountains are the same as gold and silver mountains", and providing a Chinese solution for global e-waste management. This seemingly cold mechanical equipment is quietly writing a green chapter of harmony between humans and nature.
