Classification and Recycling of Waste Cables: Turning Waste into Wealth Through Scientific Sorting

#Industry ·2026-02-27

In daily life, industrial production and engineering renovation, waste cables and wires have gradually become a common kind of waste. Random discarding not only wastes resources but also causes environmental pollution. Standardized recycling and precise classification are key to achieving resource recycling and green development.

The core of waste cable recycling lies in classification before treatment. The most practical method is based on conductor material: copper cables have high conductivity and recycling value, widely used in industrial, residential and power reconstruction scenarios; aluminum cables are mostly used in high-voltage power transmission lines and should be sorted separately to avoid mixing with copper and affecting regeneration purity.
By application scenarios, they can be divided into power cables, communication cables, control cables, household wires, etc. Different types vary greatly in insulation thickness, core quantity and copper content. Classified storage improves dismantling efficiency and makes pricing more transparent. The condition and outer sheath material (PVC, PE, rubber, etc.) should also be simply distinguished for environmentally friendly disposal.
After proper classification, waste cables are professionally dismantled to separate metal and plastic. Copper, aluminum and other metals can be remelted and reused as industrial raw materials, while insulation materials can be processed into recycled products. Scientific classification protects natural resources, reduces disposal costs, and practices low-carbon and circular economy.

Waste cables are not garbage, but misplaced resources. Adhere to classification first, recycling second, choose formal recycling channels, realize resource value and protect the ecological environment.
