Circuit board recycling equipment: the integration of technology and environmental protection

#Industry ·2026-03-03

In today's era of rapid development of modern electronic technology, circuit boards, as the core components of electronic products, are also being discarded in increasing quantities. According to statistics, more than 50 million tons of electronic waste are generated globally each year, which contains a large amount of discarded circuit boards. These circuit boards not only contain precious metal resources but also harmful substances such as lead and mercury. If not properly handled, they will cause serious environmental pollution. Therefore, circuit board recycling equipment has emerged as an important bridge connecting technology and environmental protection. The core working principle of circuit board recycling equipment is to achieve efficient separation and recovery of resources through physical and chemical methods. Firstly, the equipment uses a crusher to crush the entire circuit board into fine particles, and then uses a magnetic separator to separate out iron-based metals. Subsequently, through high-pressure electrostatic sorting technology, based on the differences in the conductivity of different materials, copper, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals are separated from plastics, resins, and other non-metallic substances. Finally, through smelting and purification processes, precious metals such as gold and silver are recovered. The entire process is controlled automatically, which not only enhances efficiency but also avoids the health risks caused by manual operation. The significance of such equipment goes far beyond resource recovery. On the one hand, it greatly reduces the pollution of electronic waste to soil and water sources and reduces the risk of heavy metals harming human health through the food chain. On the other hand, by recycling precious metals, it alleviates the pressure on the exploitation of mineral resources. Data shows that about 200 grams of gold can be extracted from each ton of circuit boards (which is dozens of times the grade of gold mines), while reducing the environmental damage caused by mining several tons of ore. However, circuit board recycling still faces challenges. For example, some small recycling plants lack environmental protection qualifications and use outdated processes such as acid leaching, causing secondary pollution; in addition, continuous investment in equipment research and development is needed to deal with the increasingly complex structure of circuit boards. In the future, with the application of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies, innovations such as intelligent sorting and real-time monitoring will further improve recycling accuracy and safety. Looking back on the history of human technological development, every advance has been accompanied by the rational utilization and protection of natural resources. Circuit board recycling equipment is precisely the embodiment of this concept. It is not only a product of technology, but also a witness of the harmonious coexistence of civilization and nature. When we admire the convenience brought by technology, we should also remember that true progress begins with respecting and cherishing every discarded circuit board.
