Rotary furnace for recycling used lead-acid batteries: Transforming "waste" lead into a new form and championing green recycling

#Industry ·2026-03-13

When a lead-acid battery completes its final mile, it's not the end, but the starting point of another journey. We send it into the rotary furnace Not just a simple "incineration", but a process of precise temperature control, sealed oxygen-rich environment, and multi-stage purification - a "rebirth of lead". Here, a gentle rotation at 650°C allows the plastic casing to evaporate first without generating dioxins; in the lead paste reduction zone at 900°C, lead sulfate is reduced to crude lead by carbon thermal treatment, and sulfur is solidified into gypsum. The SO2 concentration in the flue gas is 50 mg/m³, far below EU standards; in the high-temperature section at 1100°C, the lead melt and slag automatically separate, with a lead recovery rate of 98% and a slag lead content of 0.5%, truly achieving "complete utilization". The rotary furnace rotates slowly at 360°C, like a patient alchemist, transforming the once environmentally polluting "lead demon" into an infinitely recyclable "lead ingot"; the supporting negative pressure feeding, secondary combustion chamber rapid cooling, and four-stage exhaust gas treatment effectively "lock" PM, SO2, lead and its compounds in the pipeline, with an air lead concentration of 0.3 μg/m³ around the plant, even lower than the urban background value. A rotary furnace production line capable of processing 60,000 tons of waste lead-acid batteries annually can produce 40,000 tons of recycled lead, saving 66 million kW of electricity, reducing 640,000 tons of lead ore mining, and reducing 120,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to planting 6.5 million trees. Choosing a rotary furnace for waste lead-acid batteries is choosing to transform "environmental liabilities" into "urban mines" and "black pollution" into "green wealth". Today, let every piece of waste lead be reborn in the rotary furnace; tomorrow, let the Earth become lighter through our recycling efforts.
