The Green Rebirth of E-Waste - Technical Description of Water-Selection Recycling Equipment Package

#Industry ·2026-03-15

In an era of rapid technological advancement in the electronics industry, the surge of electronic waste (WEEE) has become a serious global challenge. As a core component of electronic waste, used circuit boards (PCBs) contain valuable metals such as gold, silver, and copper, but also contain harmful substances like heavy metals and flame retardants. How to efficiently and environmentally recover their resources is crucial for sustainable development. Water-based separation equipment is a green processing solution that integrates physical separation principles with engineering wisdom. The core of this equipment lies in its ingenious use of material density differences for efficient and pure sorting. Its composition and working principle are rigorous and orderly: 1. Pre-processing unit (crushing and separation): - Coarse and fine crushers: Like powerful shredders, they gradually crush used circuit boards into millimeter-sized or even finer particles. Precisely controlling the crushing size is a key prerequisite for subsequent efficient hydraulic separation. - Magnetic separators: Powerful magnetic forces act like invisible hands, accurately capturing and sorting magnetic iron metal particles from the material stream, preparing the material for the next purification step. 2. Core separation unit (hydraulic shaker): - Hydraulic shaker/gravity separator: This is the "heart" of the water-based separation process. The crushed mixture is spread out on a precisely sloped bed under the combined action of water flow and specific frequency mechanical vibration. Particles of different densities exhibit distinct settling and migration behaviors: high-density metal particles (gold, silver, copper, etc.) settle quickly and converge into metal concentrate strips along the side bars; low-density non-metals (resin fibers, plastics) are washed away by water flow to form tailings. This process is entirely physical separation, without the use of chemical reagents. - Water circulation system: Like the lifeblood of the equipment, it ensures a stable supply of water and water pressure for sorting and is equipped with sedimentation and filtration facilities to achieve closed-loop utilization of water resources, minimizing new water consumption and wastewater discharge. 3. Post-processing unit (dewatering and refinement): - Dewatering equipment (centrifuges or filter presses): Efficiently dewater the wet concentrate and tailings obtained from the hydraulic shaker for subsequent transportation and processing. - Refinement separation equipment (such as eddy current separators and electrostatic separators): In some processes, dewatered metal concentrates may be further separated using eddy current technology to separate non-ferrous metals (such as copper, aluminum) from non-metallic residues, or use electrostatic separation to enhance metal grade and purity. Compared with traditional recovery methods such as landfilling, incineration, or strong acid/alkali dissolution, the water-based separation equipment demonstrates significant environmental advantages: No pollution risk: The entire process primarily relies on physical forces (water flow, vibration), avoiding the use of large amounts of chemical solvents and eliminating secondary pollution issues such as acidic wastewater and toxic gas emissions. High resource recovery rate: The separation efficiency of the water-based technology for fine-grained, complex mixed materials far exceeds that of simple manual sorting or wind sorting, significantly improving metal resource recovery rates (copper typically 95%, and precious metals can also be efficiently enriched). Waste material resource recovery: After testing, the non-metallic tailings (resin powder, fibers, etc.) are non-toxic and can be processed into high-value products such as board fillers and road materials, achieving nearly 100% recycling of circuit boards. Low energy consumption and safety: The overall equipment energy consumption is controllable, with high operational safety and a friendly operating environment. The widespread application of water-based separation equipment is not only an important technical support for tackling the pollution challenge of electronic waste, but also a green engine for extracting infinite recycling wealth from "urban mines". It represents a circular economy development model driven by technological innovation, with environmental protection as the bottom line and sustainable resource utilization as the goal. Between clean water flows and mechanical rhythms, it paves a path toward the regenerative value of used circuit boards and provides a solid technical guarantee for the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.
